It all started because my Chase credit card froze my account due to "suspicious activity". Well, they should have called me to verify instead of just freezing my account.
I only found out because when I tried to schedule an online payment (I've been paying online for at least a year) it said "your account is not accessible". So after I spoke with customer service to verify the transactions I was told that "the security has been released and online access will be available in 5 to 7 business days". Now, that's not very convenient for me, is it?
I told the rep that my payment was due in just a few days and I will need to make the payment. She said I can pay over the phone - but will be charged a $14.95 convenience fee. Well, again, that's not convenient for ME, is it, as I didn't create this problem in the first place. SHE DID NOT TELL ME THAT I CAN GO TO A CHASE BRANCH TO MAKE A PAYMENT!!!
So at 1:55 p.m. PST on the date the payment was due - which was only less than 2 business days since I spoke with the rep - I decided to try logging in to my account online. With a brief sigh of relief, I was able to access it. I proceeded to make the payment, only to find out that I was already after the 4 p.m. EST payment cut-off time for the day. Seriously?! WTF!!! In order for my payment to be posted on that very same day, I would have to pay - you guessed it - $14.95 processing/convenient fee.
I thought the situation with my account the few days prior that if a late fee was posted to my account, I would have a valid reason to demand for the charge to be waived. I also thought that with my excellent track record, it should be no problem in getting that taken care of. So, I made my payment "regularly", like I always do, as I am never late on making payments.
I checked my account in a couple days and found out that Chase did charge me a late fee. I sure was upset but waited 'til the next day to call them (since it was late in the day), thinking that there was nothing I could've done at the time and that everything would be resolved, in my favor. Oh boy was I wrong.
Explaining to the rep what happened and when I asked for the late fee to be waived, she said NO. She said the reason is because besides paying over the phone (and pay a fee), I could have gone to a Chase branch to make the payment (BTW, how many of you know that???). OMG, I was upset when she told me that! The first rep I spoke with just a few days prior did not mention that and I just so happened stopped by the bank that very same afternoon to make a deposit via ATM (yes, I happen to have Chase bank accounts as well)! Had I known that was an option, I could have easily - EASILY - gone inside the branch to make the payment!
Anyway, the customer service rep would NOT budge (what kind of customer service is that? How can they call themselves "customer service"?).
I have always made payments on time and am current with all my accounts. I have a high credit score and I try VERY HARD to keep it that way. I am VERY responsible financially and responsible period that I wouldn't jeopardize my "reputation". I avoid any kind of fees at all costs because I think they are so ridiculous and are just a waste of money. I would rather spend and happily enjoy that money instead of throwing it away to stupid money-suckers.
Anyway, what I don't get is that how is Chase credit card going to charge me a late fee when the money is coming from their own bank? It is so wrong. On so many levels. At least in my opinion.
I miss WaMu.
I hate Chase. They suck.

Me? A Hair Model?
Years ago (I won't say how long) I was asked by my hair stylist to be his hair model. I agreed but had no idea what I was getting into!
He dyed my hair black (BTW, since the dye my hair color has never been the same; it was much naturally lighter then) and on the day of the shoot put TONS & TONS of hair grease on my hair. I couldn't move around much because my hair was strategically placed. I also got teased a lot: people on set kept on singing the Addams Family theme song. Y'know, the part where they snap their fingers. Then, after I got home, I washed my hair at least 3 times trying to get the grease out of my hair. It was such a pain.
When I finally saw the pictures and saw that they picked one to put in their hair salon, I was extremely proud!
Here are some photos!

So Much To Do, So Little Time...But I'm Unemployed?!
It's been awhile since I last blogged. What can I say? I've been busy.
I actually went on 2 separate job interviews in 1 week 2 weeks ago! That's a lot for nowadays. I am fortunate to have been chosen.
My husband and I are moving. Both of us not working can no longer justify paying the rent we've been paying, so we'll be saving a couple hundred bucks a month by moving to a slightly smaller apartment. Every little thing counts, right? I am extremely stressed out though. I seriously dislike moving. Seriously. On the verge of "hate".
I'm working on my husband's student film project. I was volunteered as AD. Man, what timing. Had to collide with our moving. Was supposed to do the casting last Friday but the casting location fell through. So, will be casting for actors this Friday. So much work. And I am so green. I hope I won't let my husband down. He has so much hope for me, due to my organizational skills. But, I'm so green, in this field.
I responded to a singer/songwriter who is looking for a background vocalist and have been practicing the songs for the past 2 days. Again, what timing? As if I don't have enough to do already or have enough to worry about. But this is an opportunity I am really excited about, so I've been spending a lot of time practicing, even though my life this past week or 2 has been so chaotic. I really have been working very hard on it and I think I'm ready! Can't wait to audition! I really would LOVE it if I can do this for reals and on a regular basis!
So the movers are coming this Sunday and even though we still have the current apartment until first week of July, we still have lots to pack before they get here. And I just remembered yesterday that I have to babysit on Sunday, the day and during the time the movers will be here...
SO MUCH TO DO, SO LITTLE TIME...BUT I'M (still) UNEMPLOYED?!

Better Safe Than Sorry
So my husband and I are looking for an apartment. We haven't found a place yet but I thought to be proactive about it by placing an ad on Craigslist to obtain quotes. Nothing wrong with that, right?
I surf the Craigslist site every single day. I have gotten lots of cool gigs from it - from film background work to catering server - and am grateful that I am still alive today (there are a lot of psychos out there; in case you don't know, a few people have been murdered by responding to some of the ads from the site). As much as I love finding gigs from the site, I am ALWAYS careful. ESPECIALLY being a female.
Anyway, since I've placed the ad on the site, I have gotten an overwhelming number of responses. In my ad I had specifically listed the furniture I have, and asked for a quote and the company info, if it applied.
Apparently not too many read carefully, because many of them replied still asking me what I had to move. Many didn't give me a quote. Even more did not give me their company information.
I came across one that offered the most affordable price for me and he claimed that his business is licensed and bonded. But, of course, he too did not give me his company information.
I thought to inquire further. I want to know who I'm potentially hiring. Is there anything wrong with that? I don't think so. So, I responded to his e-mail and asked him if he had a company website. He said no, and that he hasn't been advertising to save money. That didn't give me any information so I probed further by asking him what is the name of his business and/or his business location. This was the response I got from him:
"THIS IS WHAT TOTALY ERKS ME! YES I DO HAVE A LEGIT ADDRESS AND LOCATION BEEN IN BUSINESS IN PASADENA FOR OVER 16 YRS AND A MEMBER OF THE BBB...I QUOTE YOU A PRICE THAT NOBODY IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD QUOTE CAUSE I CAN AFFORD IT AND I DO IT SO MY GRAND KIDS CAN GET A FEEL FOR THE BUSINESS AND YOU ACT LIKE IM MOVING THE PRESIDENT !!! DONT NEED YOUR BUSINESS LADY"
OMG!!! Is he kidding me? He can't give me the VERY BASIC information about his company and is getting defensive about it? Talking about something to hide!!! I was livid by his uncalled for response and did not know whether I should be mad or laugh at this situation!
Just wanted to share my story with as many people as I can. I don't believe in "asking too many questions", when your safety is or can be on the line.
Please be careful and beware! Make sure to ask as many questions as you can and use your best judgement! Nobody, especially for private gigs or anything for that matter, should get that defensive and fault or snap at you for asking questions!
BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!

I Heart Mark Thompson of L.A.'s Fox 11 News
I have been unemployed for some time now so I am either on the computer a lot looking for jobs or just plain bored out of my mind. Since my unemployment I've become quite addicted to the computer and the Internet and have since jumped on the bandwagon of YouTube, blogging and Twitter. Because of it, my computer is almost always on.
As mentioned in my previous blog posting, I have been hooked on Mark Thompson, weather guy/anchor of Fox 11 News, and have started following him on Twitter since he announced it on the news almost a month ago. It was only yesterday, days after he mentioned my Twitter name, kato808, on the news, I heard from him again.
When the story came on during the 10 o'clock news hour I was surprised and seriously beyond ecstatic! They showed a good amount of time of my video on the air! To my surprise they even said my name! Many times! I was shocked! Jaw-dropping, arms-in-the-air and jumping-up-and-down shocked!
I was already so surprised when they did the shout-out Monday night. But last night was definitely icing on the cake! Thanks for putting kato808 on the Twitter map!
I am so glad that I didn't give up on this project! Final Cut Pro was hard for me to learn and even though I was getting frustrated but was putting 12 hours into this project worth it?
DAMN STRAIGHT!
Here is the video I made that created media attention: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Txn-Pm0Dp8o&feature=channel_page
Here is the shout-out video that aired on Monday, May 18: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OELKYB4Rkx0&feature=channel_page

So what does the computer being on all the time have anything to do with this?
Well, I was watching the Fox 11 News at 10 and on the computer at the same time (I was multi-tasking) when I noticed that Mark Thompson was following ME on Twitter! I was so psyched I tweeted him right back almost out of disbelief. It was then he tweeted me back and told me - just MINUTES PRIOR - that they were going to show my YouTube video on the air. I was like WWWWWHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAA?!?!?!?!?!

Kris Allen Wins American Idol Season 8!
Kris Allen definitely has come a long way.
I admit that even though I've been blogging all season but I haven't been voting. I watch American Idol religiously but just am no longer eager to vote. Only after last night's finale began, I decided that I wanted Kris Allen to take the title. I suppose it made sense, since I called Kris on all 3 rounds on my blog.
It was definitely a surprise though. All season long Adam has proved to be unique, belongs on stage and seemed to be a clear winner, but Kris definitely has been upping his game and has been giving Adam a run for his money. It was definitely a surprise for me of Kris' win, since prior to Kris making the Top 13 I didn't think much of his performances.
There were so many memorable performances on the finale. I especially liked the performances by Cyndi Lauper with Allison Iraheta, Queen with Kris Allen & Adam Lambert, and Keith Urban with Kris Allen. What I didn't like was the song sung by Megan Joy and Michael Sarver.
I loved the special guest appearance by Norman Gentle. He was funny and so entertaining. What I didn't enjoy was the show inviting back Bikini Girl on stage, especially her sharing a kiss with Ryan Seacrest. I loved it though, when Kara surprised Bikini Girl on stage with a showdown. I knew Kara had a voice back during audition days and Kara definitely proved that she can out sing Bikini Girl any day. Bikini Girl's reaction was so un-classy - she looked so pissed off and even stared Kara down after she unbuttoned her shirt dress. (BTW, Kara, you look SO MUCH BETTER than Bikini Girl.) Bikini Girl demonstrated absolutely no class. As for Tatiana Del Toro...Was that all part of the script? Or...?!?!?!
When they did announce Kris being the winner and he would have to sing "No Boundaries" again, I was a bit worried. I thought in my head if they would change the key and I was so glad that they did!
Anyway, congrats to Kris Allen!

American Idol Season Finale LIVE Report
Updated: 9:06 p.m. PST
Round 1:
Both sang songs they've performed previously. Not surprisingly, Adam delivered yet another solid performance. On the other hand, Kris might have had some pitchy problems here and there but his performance was AWESOME!
I say Round 1 goes to Kris. Simon agrees!
Round 2:
Both were so good in this round! Both Adam and Kris possess originality. I really liked Kris' performance though!
Simon calls Adam in this round but I'm calling it Kris.
Round 3:
I thought Adam's performance was okay. Didn't do much for me. I have a feeling this round will go to Kris. We'll find out after the break...
We're back.
Or maybe not. I thought Kris' pitch was all over the place! Maybe it wasn't the right key for him. Randy agrees. HOWEVER, I do think that the song is more fitting to Kris' style. And Kris' interpretation/arrangement is more believeable.
I'm calling Kris in the final round.
This is going to be a tough one! BUT! Regardless who takes the title, they'll both be making records. Probably some of the Top 13 will too!
Surprise performance by Carrie Underwood?! She's wonderful as always. Bitch! :P
Just joking folks!

My Very First Final Cut Pro Project PREMIERED on YouTube!
For months now I've been watching Fox 11 News @ 10 with Carlos Amezcua and Christine Devine. They're now my favorite news team. I think it was only a short 2 or 3 months ago when I found out that their weather guy Mark Thompson dances while reporting weather on Fox News @ 11 on their sister station KCOP 13. Since then, I've been hooked on watching Mark dance - he is just too funny! Not only does he dance while giving the weather report, sometimes he says the funniest things that cannot be said/heard on the "regular" news. Perhaps it's "late-night"?!
Anyway, so a few weeks ago I came up with the idea of compiling clips of him dancing and posting on my YouTube Channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/iliketosingalot). I thought it would be funny. Then days later I came up with another idea: dance WITH him in the clip!
So I filmed using my digital camera for about 2 weeks so I'd have more footage to work with. Coincidentally my husband needed to get a green screen for his film project, so I used the green screen as my backdrop while "dancing with Mark".
I've never used Final Cut Pro (FCP) before - only iMovie - and my husband told me it would be easier to put together the project with this app. I had to learn EVERYTHING the day I pieced everything together and was getting SERIOUSLY frustrated. It took me, no joke, about 12 hours to complete. As soon as I got it done, which was at almost 2 a.m., I tweeted the link to Mark Thompson (I follow him on Twitter & have exchanged a few words with him during the past few weeks, including asking him if he can start dancing @ 10 instead of @ 11!).
I made the video 'cuz I thought it would be funny and just wanted to show it to him, and perhaps also to his fellow Fox News Team. I was hoping he would share it with his family and friends so I'd get more hits on this video I made. Little did I know that he and Christine and Carlos would TALK ABOUT IT during their news segments! They even gave me a special shout-out! Mark also tweeted my video on his Twitter! I thought it was so cool and thought that having worked on it for 12 hours paid off!
Just to share with you the tweets I got from the Fox 11 News Team:
markthompsontv: "@kato808 luv on u girl!! We were all blown out by your riffin' on the Ch 13 11p newscast".
CarlosFoxTV: "@kato808 We ARE going to show your moves on our show!".
DevineNews: "@kato808 that is awesome."
As it was my first time using FCP and green screen, I know there are plenty of room for improvement, and that the video looks quite amateurish. Nevertheless, it is my first FCP project and it got special shout-out, so all's good! So, without further ado, check out my video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Txn-Pm0Dp8o&feature=channel_page

Anniversary Dinner @ Houston's Restaurant Pasadena
So my hubby & I just celebrated our 7-year anniversary. 7 years! How crazy is that?! To celebrate, we decided to go to Houston's Restaurant in our neighborhood. We don't go to Houston's often because it's more than what I'd like to spend on a meal (I'm a cheap date). But since this was a special occasion, I thought to make an exception.
I thought it was very strange and interesting when I called to make the reservation 2 weeks prior. I was informed that, even with a reservation, I should expect to wait 10-15 minutes past my reservation time when I arrive. Seriously?! What's the frickin' point, then, to make the reservation?!? Maybe I should just show up 10-15 minutes past my reservation.
Anyway, the economy didn't seem to affect Houston's business as when we got there, it was already packed and there were people waiting. Perhaps they all had to wait, like us, an extra 10-15 minutes.
The thing with Houston's is that their food menu selection is extremely limited. I thought it was very funny that they have a longer wine list than their food menu. To start, my husband and I ordered the spinach & artichoke dip. It was pretty good. The chips were warm and salted - although all differently and oddly shaped - and accompanied quite well with the dip. To my surprise it also came with salsa and sour cream. The salsa was tasty but doesn't seem fresh or "homemade". For entree, I ended up ordering their sushi combo platter (I know they're more known for their meats but none looked interesting) while my husband ordered their prime rib.
Since I don't eat raw foods (I know and I ordered sushi right?) I asked for all-cooked sushi combo. Good thing they were accommodating and did not charge me extra. The sushi combo platter had very nice presentation and was of good size but I thought the accompanying sauces weren't proportionate to the number of rolls given. In addition to the sauces, no shoyu was given, just the ponzu sauce, which I didn't really care for with the sushi rolls. The interesting roll they had in the combo platter was shrimp & macadamia.
My husband enjoyed his prime rib and while I got a little taste of it (since I like mine well done but he likes it medium), I thought the meat was very tender and very flavorful.
For dessert we tried something that was off their menu (to our surprise): strawberry shortcake. It was not as good as I hoped but it wasn't bad either. The best strawberry shortcake I had that I can remember is from Wynn buffet in Las Vegas.
Anyway, it was still a night to remember.

5-12-2009 American Idol LIVE Report
Last updated: 9:02 p.m. PST
Round One: Judges' Picks
1. Danny Gokey (Paula Abdul's choice): Dance Little Sister
I gotta be honest: I have no clue what this song is. BUT, I will say that Danny sounded great singing this song and thought he did a great job!
2. Kris Allen (Kara DioGuardi's & Randy Jackson's choice): Apologize
First of all, I had NO IDEA Kris plays the piano too! Wait, did I?! Anyway, I thought it was going to be hard for Kris to pull off this very popular song, but I think he pulled it off! It definitely wasn't as good as the original, but it was a great attempt.
3. Adam Lambert (Simon Cowell's choice): One
I love it so much better when Adam is singing softly and gently. No gimmick, not over the top. Oh, wait, I spoke too soon. I liked the performance up until he started singing over the top. But what can I say? It was still a very solid performance.
Round Two: Own Picks
1. Danny Gokey: You Are So Beautiful
Before he started singing I already know he's gonna do well. His voice fits beautifully with the song. For some reason I'm tearing up now...It was a nice arrangement and I think Danny sang it really well. Great job.
2. Kris Allen: Heartless
I must say that I am extremely surprised that he picked this song. This song does not showcase any vocal abilities. I know 'cuz Kanye can't sing. I've seen him perform live on SNL and was not impressed. Wow, I am impressed with Kris! Very original. Very unique. That's a musician! Awesome job! Man, this is going to be tough (Randy saying the same thing as I type)! All 3 so strong!
3. Adam Lambert: Crying
Rocker picks a rocker song. Smart move. Great choice. His voice matches Steven Tyler's very well. Good job! Although I am very curious how he would do with "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing"...
Gosh. I have no idea who's going home tomorrow! They were all so good! I think it'll be a toss up between Danny and Kris.
Updated: 7:52 p.m. PST
I've been on Twitter for a couple of weeks now. Although it is fun and very addicting, it also has a major drawback: SPOILER ALERT!
I've found out in advance (at least to my liking) of last week's AI results on Twitter by a fellow tweeter when I was waiting for the NBA semi finals game to be over. Just earlier I got another spoiler alert by another fellow tweeter of the songs the AI contestants are singing this week. What a bummer?!
Anyway, I'll update in a few minutes when the show starts on the West Coast.

Cinco de Mayo American Idol LIVE Report
Last updated: 9:04 p.m. PST
Feliz Cinco de Mayo!!!
I know I haven't blogged about last week's result show since the AIs' last performances; but I was surprised to see Adam in the bottom 3 last week! And I was sad to see Matt go home. But I saw him on Ellen yesterday and I am glad that he got invited to the show to perform. I have no doubt in my mind that he will have great things ahead of him.
Given this week's theme, rock-n-roll, I predict that Allison, Adam, and Danny will do really well. Let's see if Kris will surprise us!
1. Adam Lambert: Whole Lotta Love
Definitely a rocker. Definitely his genre. Definitely a great performance. But I'm not really into heavy rock, so...Well, Kara, I don't think he's "Rock God"! C'mon now...
2. Allison Iraheta: Cry Baby
What a powerful voice she's got. Awesome. I was good at 16 but I admit was not Allison good! :P
Kris' & Danny's duet performance: NOT feeling it. Can't wait 'til it's over.
3. Kris Allen: Come Together
Guitar definitely is Kris' thing. He comes to life when he's with his guitar. I have to say that it was surprisingly good - better than I thought! It made me believe that he can be a rocker! I thought he did good.
4. Danny Gokey: Dream On
From the clip I just saw, I am a bit nervous of that scream in the song! Let's see if Danny can pull it off...Uh, okay, I don't like it. I DO NOT LIKE the screaming at the end. It was horrible! Everything else was fine until that part. Besides, I don't think he had enough "swagger" for this kind of music.
I sure am looking forward to Allison's and Adam's duet! I have a feeling it's gonna be good! Stay tuned...
Okay, we're back.
Wow! Hot performance! Their performance is so much better than Danny's and Kris'! SO much better by 1,000 miles! You can tell Adam and Allison have great chemistry, and they sure look the part - so much better than the other 2! Great job on the duet!
Who do I think is in danger, based on the performances TONIGHT?! I think Danny and Kris.

Swine Flu
I am not afraid to admit that I am SCARED AS HELL of this Swine Flu! It's one thing to have an outbreak but have a cure for it than an outbreak WITHOUT a cure! It doesn't help that as I age, the more paranoid I get. Now I am scared to leave my house!
What I am upset at is people who are still traveling to Mexico. This is different than one consuming certain kind of food and getting sick...This is contagious from one person to another! Ever seen that movie "Outbreak"? Especially now we don't have vaccines for it yet, you have to take the responsibility not just for yourself but for others as well!
I hope whoever travels to Mexico don't get let back into the U.S. If they wanted to take the risk of going there, that's their business; but don't put others lives at risk for your stupidity and irresponsibility.

I saw on Ryan's Twitter earlier that tonight's theme is Rat Pack. I LOVE The Rat Pack! Can't wait! I predict that Matt will do well in this style of music. Because I follow Ryan's Twitter, I already know who the "secret" mentor is...Jamie Foxx. I also know that he will be on Ryan's show tomorrow morning on KIIS!
1. Kris Allen: The Way You Look Tonight
I love this song. I believe this can be a great song choice for him. Let's find out...
It didn't start out as good as I hoped. It got a little better and then the arrangement changed...I'm not sure if I like the arrangement. Good vocal/performance but not great. Looks like Simon and I are on the same page on this one.
2. Allison Iraheta: Someone To Watch Over Me
She is definitely growing on me. She's also looking cuter and cuter! Must be the stylist and the make-up artist! :D
Again, very Allison. Every song she sings spells Allison all over it. Very original, very unique, very Allison. I'm a fan.
3. Matt Giraud: My Funny Valentine
You know I'm a fan. But it wasn't as good as I hoped. There were some good parts in the song but it didn't give me a Wow factor. Regardless, I still think he is super talented.
4. Danny Gokey: Come Rain Or Come Shine
I agree with Paula's comment weeks ago that Danny has a very sexy voice. I think Danny's voice is very suitable for very jazzy, bluesy songs. As soon as he started singing I already knew that he's gonna be a definite shoo-in. Wow, what a great performance?! His vocal was awesome, especially towards the end when he belted out the high notes! Even my husband, who's not an AI fan, said Danny was good!
5. Adam Lambert: Feeling Good
As soon as I heard Adam's singing this song, I knew it was going to be a show! It's a great song to be performed live, and that's exactly where Adam strives. Another very Adam performance.
Who do I think is going home? Allison or Matt. As much as I like them both and think they are talented, I do think that popularity plays a big part in this competition as well. Unfortunately I don't think Allison and/or Matt has as many popularity votes as Kris, Danny or Adam.

I Got Wendie Malick's Autograph!
I was working at the restaurant Saturday night and as I was walking away from my station to take a party to their table, two unexpected diners walked in (unexpected because they didn't have a reservation). I immediately recognized one of the two unexpected guests.
It was Wendie Malick! She's probably best known for her role on TV sitcom "Just Shoot Me" with David Spade. Most recently she was in the feature film "Confessions of A Shopaholic" with Isla Fisher.
I have to admit that I was a little bit star-struck and couldn't think straight. But, I still managed to give her a good table even though we were already fairly booked.
As she was leaving she thanked me for squeezing them in and giving them a nice table. I took the opportunity and asked her for her autograph. I don't know why but words weren't coming out of my mouth. I felt like an idiot. Nevertheless, I got her autograph and she was nice enough to ask for my name. I was surprised though, after I told her my name, that she said "Rita?! That's unusual."
As she walked out she thanked me again for giving her a nice table.

I Am So Fed Up With SoCal
I guess I didn't go out much growing up in SoCal, before moving up north to Monterey and Honolulu. Ever since I moved back here almost 3 summers ago, I have seen so much ugliness in people all around. Just earlier today, just my luck, I came across another rude jackass on the road.
I was going to my niece's birthday party in Corona and was just getting off the freeway. There was another car in front of me but he merged to the left lane while I stayed on the right lane. Now, the left lane was a left turn only lane that puts you back on the freeway going the opposite direction while the right lane goes straight. I remember seeing the car and thought, he's probably lost.
We were both stopped at the red light and when the light changed I let go of the brakes and gently stepped on the accelerator. It was peaceful when all the sudden I heard the car horn go off. The guy was honking at me! I was like, what the hell? He sped up to the lane next to me so I rolled down my window and said to him, even though his window was rolled up, "You were in the wrong lane, Dumb Ass!"
(Note: from now on "he" and/or "the guy" will only be referred to as "Dumb Ass" and/or "Jackass".)
After the Dumb Ass passed me up I was looking towards the left for my destination since I've never been there before. When I finally looked straight all I saw was the Jackass' arm out the window, I can only imagine he must have flipped me off. Seriously?! The JACKASS was in the wrong and not only did I get a honk but I also got the bird? I was NOT happy.
The Jackass actually pulled into the parking lot of where I needed to go, and I saw him slow down and looked in his rear view mirror. I was like, I hope he's going to the same party so I can tell him off! Well, my husband was in the car with me so he said he didn't want to "scare the old man" (Jackass was an older man) by letting him think that we were following him, so we went separate directions looking for a parking spot.
Well, there were no spots so we had to go back the other way. The Jackass and his wife were out of the car and he stared us down as we drove past (I stared back at him too). The spot we parked at was actually right next to his car! I was nervous that he would do something to our car and suggested we park elsewhere, but my husband didn't think Jackass would do anything so we stayed put.
After lunch and the magic show we walked over to the pony rides area. As we were on our way there we saw the Jackass from a distance at a picnic table and also walked past our car. What was funny to us was that the Jackass had moved HIS car!
Anyway, I just had to vent. I am so sick and tired of all these stupid and rude people. It is so unfair, and I don't deserve being treated this way!

4-21-2009 American Idol LIVE Report
Updated: 9:01 p.m. PST
Matt is super talented and I am so happy that he's still in the running! I really hope he does well tonight!
It's DISCO night!
I have to say that I wasn't at all prepared for the show! It kinda just started! They skipped introducing the judges, this week's theme, and a little clip of the contestant before the performance!
1. Lil Rounds: I'm Every Woman
I had pretty high hopes for Lil when I heard that she was doing Chaka Khan. But then again I've had high hopes for her ever since her audition. I always thought she was just okay but for some reason all the judges were singing such high praises for her. For a very long time I've been waiting to see what THAT is the judges are talking about. I have yet to see it. I thought the song was very fitting for Lil, but, it's very hard to do Chaka Khan proud. I think it was a nice attempt but I think that's all Lil has been doing: attempting. I have not seen her conquer any of her performances or deliver an extraordinary performance or see that WOW factor. I agree with Simon, I think it's (about) time for Lil to go home.
2. Kris Allen: She Works Hard For The Money
I thought Kris' version was very original and very refreshing. I thought he did a great job!
3. Danny Gokey: September
As soon as I heard Ryan said Danny was singing this song, I knew it was going to be good. I think Danny just knows how to pick the right song for his voice! I thought his voice fit the song perfectly. His voice is awesome and he delivered another solid performance.
4. Allison Iraheta: Hot Stuff
Disco song with a rocker twist. Very interesting. Very original and very Allison! I think she's awesome!
5. Adam Lambert: If I Can't Have You
Love his look in that suit! I thought he delivered another very original, very strong performance. Awesome job! But you know what? As awesome as he is, I am still skeptical of him going mainstream. I don't think his voice is entirely "radio-friendly"...
6. Matt Giraud: Stayin' Alive
I LOVED it! I think Matt did an awesome job! He looked like he owned the stage! I think he picked a song that expressed his feelings and he showed America that he wants this! I said last week he better bring it this week and I think he brought it!
7. Anoop Desai: (I'm guessing it's...) Dim All The Lights
I'm liking his outfit tonight but not so much on his 'tache. He is so cute the way he is! He has a nice voice and can definitely sing. But unfortunately there are better singers in this competition.
I think the two going home this week are Lil (I am REALLY hoping) and Anoop.

YES! Matt Stays Another Week On Idol!
I KNEW when Matt was announced the person with the fewest votes, that the judges were going to save him from elimination. How can they not? Matt is good! He's so talented! I am glad that, once again, the judges and I agreed.
I am so glad that Matt gets another chance! I hope he brings his A-game next week and prove to America why he deserves to be in this competition! NOT Lil Rounds!
Go Matt! Show 'em what you got!

4-14-2009 American Idol LIVE Report
Earlier today I read the info of tonight's show and found out that Quentin Tarantino is going to be the "mentor" tonight. Since my husband always avoids this show when it comes on, but is a fan of Quentin's work, I asked him if he would be interested in watching it tonight with me. His response was 'no', but he is actually sitting on the couch right next to me! :D
Anyway, I am curious of Quentin's "participation" (oh yeah, I forgot he was a guest judge in the past!). Let's watch and find out:
1. Allison Iraheta: I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing
Yikes, I am scared. Everytime I hear people sing this song, they have always failed at trying to pull a Steven Tyler. Everytime I hear people sing this song, I am pretty much always scared of hearing what's to come and always couldn't wait for it to end. I have to say that Allison's version was the best I've heard! I liked her take on it and she sang it at a key that was comfortable for herself and for all the viewers. I appreciate her for not taking me through torture.
BTW, my husband didn't stay long. After Allison's performance he went back on his computer!
2. Anoop Desai: Everthing I Do, I Do It For You
I think Anoop is getting better and better week after week. Could it have been better? Yes, of course, but I think he did a very good job singing this song.
3. Adam Lambert: Born To Be Wild
I knew Adam was going to be putting on a show with this song. But I don't really like his song choice this week, because he's singing with that annoying voice of his that just annoys the heck out of me! Great performance, very entertaining, but with very annoying vocals.
4. Matt Giraud: Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman
Second song by Bryan Adams tonight. I actually didn't like this song for a long time before I started paying attention to the lyrics. It's got beautiful lyrics. Anyway, I am glad that Matt is performing with his piano, singing a very soft version. I think the song started very well. There were some pitchy problems but, Matt is so talented! I think he can put out an album now! If and when that happens, I will be one of the first to get it!
5. Danny Gokey: Endless Love
Is this the first time Danny is not wearing his glasses?! I'm a huge fan of Danny's. I like his voice and all but am not sure if this was his best vocal performance. But his performance in general did touch me though. It got me teary-eyed...
6. Kris Allen: Falling Slowly
I've never heard of this song! But I think the performance was pretty good, pretty heart-felt. Good vocals.
7. Lil Rounds: The Rose
She is definitely taking advantage of AI's stylists huh?! Showing up with different 'dos every week. There were some pitchy problems but this was my favorite performance of hers. I felt like she was singing with heart and emotion for the first time. On a totally different note, Lil needs to keep comments to herself! It's so childish! Especially on national TV!
My bottom 3 predictions are Lil, Kris, and Anoop or Matt. I think and hope Lil (finally) gets the boot!

My Latest Background Project
As many of you know, I've been unemployed for quite some time now. It was only a little more than a month ago I got a part-time job at a restaurant as a temporary host.
Ever since I became unemployed - not by choice but due to the economy - I've been trying to keep busy by doing different things. When time availability and flexibility became available, I got to explore things I wouldn't otherwise have the chance to do when I was employed: acting.
Yes, acting is my husband's full-time job, but for me, it's considered a "pastime" - I only do it for fun. I know, many people, especially actors, think I'm crazy for doing this for fun, since it's not really fun, because it's a pain in the butt and of its long-hour days. But, who doesn't want to be seen on TV or movies?! Besides, what else am I gonna do with my unoccupied time?
I have so far done 5 different background work for, obviously, 5 different projects. My latest project is for a SAG film titled "Pete Smalls Is Dead", due out in 2010.
While I'm on set, I'd like to film my times spent there. On my YouTube Channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/iliketosingalot, you can see many of these clips. You can see my latest project here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0SZ7Kqmtak&feature=channel_page. I also took some pictures of the fancy cars that were there as props, which I am posting here.

4-7-2009 American Idol LIVE Report
I'm LIVE reporting from home!
Okay. The press and the media gave Simon so much grief last week over his harsh remark to Megan right before she was supposed to sing for her life. I didn't think what Simon said was harsh or rude - he was just being Simon! People, Simon has been the way he is for the past 8 years, you still have a problem with it? You know what, if that's the case, then STOP WATCHING! If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen! Besides, I think Megan deserved it after her smack-talking.
1. Danny Gokey (born in 1980 and he's the oldest in the competition? Gees, what a slap in my face!) As soon as Danny started singing Stand By Me I was already like, oh, this is gonna be good. It was an original version and to match that with Danny's voice?! It was awesome!
2. Kris Allen (1985; All She Wants To Do Is Dance)
I don't know this song so...I do like it that they're allowing the contestants to sing on other than the stage...It makes them look much more professional. It makes me feel like I'm watching a performance rather than being constantly reminded of watching a singing competition.
3. Lil Rounds (1984; What's Love Got To Do With It)
Her makeup makes her look like Keyshia Cole and Keri Hilson tonight! I thought the song choice was her best one yet. Not great, but okay.
4. Anoop Desai (1986; True Colors)
He was such a cute baby/kid! Great song and I think he sang it well.
5. Scott MacIntyre (1985; The Search Is Over)
Great song, but I think he struggled a bit. It was quite pitchy for me.
6. Allison Iraheta (1992; I Can't Make You Love Me)
Love this song. As a matter of fact, I like it so much that I sang to it and posted onto my YouTube Channel! :D I think Allison is great, she makes every song her own. Wow, I think Allison did really well tonight. There were some really good parts in her version. I think this was her best performance yet.
7. Matt Giraud (1985; Part Time Lovers)
I love Matt's performance tonight. It is young and hip and full of soul, which he is so good at, vocally. I love the whole R&B JT vibe he has going on. Again, it's young and hip and cool and fun and I LOVE it!
8. Adam Lambert (1982; ???)
Don't know this song and didn't catch the name. You know, I do think that Adam has mad vocals but I still think that he belongs on broadway or something. I don't really think American Idol's for him, or the other way around. Standing ovation from Simon?! I didn't expect that!
Almost forgot my bottom 3 prediction! My guesses are Lil and Scott. Maybe Kris as the 3rd?!

3-31-2009 American Idol LIVE Update
I read an article online earlier about how Paula and Kara actually don't talk to each other while off the camera, like they don't get along or don't like each other or something...So what? How many people like people they work with? Besides, they're all actors! They have to be because they're almost always in the public eye! Of course they know better than to show their feud on stage! Duh!
AT40 Week. This better be good, as the contestants get to pick their own songs. Which should mean they'll either sing songs they're good at, know well, or sing songs they like. So, let's find out!
1. Anoop Dogg: "Caught Up"
The AI makeover sure did a good job with Anoop. He went from a cute nerd to a cute hip-looking guy! I was hoping he would stick with ballads because I think he's much better at it, but I suppose he's gotta switch it up?! I thought he did a good job. He sounded good, but nothing extraordinary about it.
2. Megan Joy: "Turn Your Lights Down Low"
She really has a unique voice! The voice doesn't really match her look! Regardless, I'm a fan of her voice. I just love her voice! I think she did good, but it was a safe song choice for her for me. Nothing to really showcase her vocal ability.
3. Danny: "What Hurts The Most"
I thought he definitely could accomplish the "singing his heart out" part. I had no doubt given the name of the song as well as his loss of his wife and most recently his grandmother. I think he did an awesome job. Vocals were great. Great performance.
4. Allison: "Don't Speak"
I thought she did a good job! At first I thought it was going to be a little copycat but I liked the little changes toward the end of the song. It was a nice version. I am still amazed that she's only just 16!
5. Scott: "Just The Way You Are"
Hey, he got a haircut! About time! As soon as I heard this was the song he was singing, I knew he was going to be in his element. It was the perfect song for him. Great job!
6. Matt: "You Found Me"
I love it that he didn't just sing on stage! Very MTV Music Awards-esque! The song didn't start too well for me but he got better and better. Overall, I think he did a good job.
7. Lil: "I Surrender"
Love her look tonight! She looks fantastic! Not an easy song to sing. The only one person I thought pulled it off was Kelly Clarkson. I thought Lil did okay but I'm just surprised of her song choice! Celine Dion?! I totally would expect her to sing Whitney Houston or something.
8. Adam: "Play That Funky Music"
Adam is definitely original and unique. He is definitely growing on me. When I heard he was singing this song I knew he was going to be great at it. He made the song his own like he did with "Satisfaction". It may be a little over-the-top from time to time but he's definitely a performer/entertainer. I thought it was great.
9. Kris: "Ain't No Sunshine"
He is just so talented, ain't he?! He plays the guitar AND he plays the piano?! That is so cool. I am very envious of musicians who know how to play multiple instruments. You know, before the commercial break I thought it would be hard for Kris to follow Adam's performance, but he pulled it off and more! I thought his performance was great! I loved it!
This season's contestants are all oh-so-strong singers, it is really tough to say who's going home next. But, someone's gotta go home! My predictions for the bottom 3 are Anoop, Megan, and Lil.

3-25-2009 American Idol Recap
Tonight's theme is Motown. I personally love motown so let's see how they do!
First up...Matt! Go Matt!
1. Matt: "Let's Get It On"
There is definitely nothing wrong with you, Matt! I think you're awesome!
I think he did an okay job. I know he can do better. He definitely got the JT vibe goin' on tonight!
2. Kris: "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)"
I thought it was a good version and that he did a good job. He has a really nice voice.
3. Scott: "You Can't Hurry Love"
What's up with Scott singing all these female-sung songs? Well, I suppose Phil Collins sang it too...
I thought he opened the song well and there were some good parts here and there. The performance wasn't great but it was okay.
(What I think: Compared to the other 2 guys already performed, I don't think Scott did as good.)
4. Megan: "For Once In My Life"
I can't believe she's a mother! Why does she move like that? It is so weird! Going back to the singing (sorry I got side-tracked)...I like her voice and everything but it didn't stand out in the actual performance! For some reason her voice stood out more in the rehearsal with Smokey! I was a bit disappointed in the performance, 'cuz I know she can do better. But, everyone can always do better, right?!
5. Anoop Dogg: "Ooh Baby Baby"
I think Anoop should stick to ballads 'cuz he's much better at it! It really showcased his vocals. I thought he did a very good job!
6. Michael: "Ain't Too Proud To Beg"
I've always liked this song because it gets you on your feet. But I didn't like Michael's version. I felt like he was trying too hard and changed too much to the song. It wasn't good. Paula and Randy agreed.
7. Lil: "Heat Wave"
I don't think she can sing the phone book (remember her last week's performance of country song "Independence Day"?), but I thought she picked a better song tonight. I think the style suits her. Vocals weren't extraordinary but okay performance.
8. Adam: "The Track of My Tears"
I liked his look tonight! Very theme-fitting. I think Adam should sing more ballads because it makes his voice sound a lot less annoying (to me). I thought his performance was very strong and very good. OMG, what am I saying?! I don't even like him! But I do know to give credit when due - he really was good tonight. He is definitely a performer and belongs on stage. Obviously his experiences performing on stage or theater paid off!
9. Danny: "Get Ready"
I thought it was a very solid performance. He makes his performances look so effortless! I was just surprised that he did not take Smokey's suggestions!
10. Allison: "Papa Was A Rolling Stone"
I thought it was a great song for Allison and I thought she did an awesome job! Gosh, only 16!
My bottom 3 predictions are Scott, Megan, and Michael.

Tyrone on tonight's Chuck!
So, remember I blogged awhile ago that Tyrone got a co-star role on NBC's Chuck, episode titled "Chuck Versus the Predator"? Well, it aired (finally) earlier tonight! Did you guys watch/catch it? If not, I recorded the scene he's in and posted on my YouTube Channel!
You can also watch the full episode on NBC.com. Remember to check out my blog and my YouTube Channel periodically for the latest updates/videos! http://www.youtube.com/iliketosingalot

3-17-2009 American Idol LIVE Update
I'm actually watching the show on my TiVo as I am typing; that's why I am calling this a "Live Update".
This week's theme is COUNTRY! Country music has only recently grown on me, so we'll see how this goes.
1. Michael
The song is a bit too country for me. I actually don't even know this song. But regardless, country boy is doing his thing and I am glad to see a roughneck pursuing his dream.
2. Allison
Not too crazy about the flower on her hair, but I suppose I am willing to overlook it because she has a good voice. For some reason though, her performance reminded me of Miley Cyrus?! Was it just me, or did you see it too? The way she performed, the way she moved, looked like they were Miley's moves!
3. Kris
I agree with Randy. Travis, that is. I personally think this is Kris' best performance yet. I haven't heard him sing a ballad song, and I am definitely liking this much better than his performances of the Michael Jackson songs he sang. Now is review time, and apparently Paula and Simon think so too. Actually, all the judges agree with me!
4. Lil
I thought it was just okay. She definitely got the pipes but I was hoping there would be some twang in there. Nice try though.
Note: Simon just cracked me up with the "Little" name-calling. Also, JUST SHUT UP, LIL! Sometimes it's better to just not say anything.
5. Adam
As much as I don't care for Adam, I do give him an A+ for making the song his own. This is exactly what Lil should've done. She should have or could have put her R&B spin on the country song to make it her own. But instead she failed in her attempt and went on to blame that it wasn't her thing. Whatever. Excuses, excuses. We've heard it all before. Every AI contestant, including rocker Adam, has to go or is going through it as well. I personally don't even like the song Adam is singing now but his originality definitely scores high in my book. Randy, Jackson, is my dawg on this one.
6. Scott
Gosh I wish I can play the piano. I am so touched that someone like Scott with vision impairment can play the piano. Good for him. Okay, going back to the song performance: Good vocals, but not great. I know he's not entirely blind, nor does he have the best vocals, but I hope he can be the white Stevie Wonder. One day. Eventually.
7. Alexis
Maybe she's nervous?! I thought the song started okay. Perhaps I was expecting more since Randy (Travis) said in the video clip that he thought it was perfect?! I don't think it was perfect...But I still like her anyway.
8. Danny
The song started just okay. But when the chorus part came and when Danny started singing those high powerful notes I was like YES! There's the Danny I love! I love his voice when he hits the high powerful notes! Good job! Kara and Randy Jackson both agree with me.
9. Anoop
Another surprising performance for me. This is the first time I'm hearing Anoop singing a ballad and I am pleasantly surprised! Good song choice and I thought he sang it great. Definitely, 100%, better than his last 2 performances. Wow, Simon just said the 2 things I just said!
10. Megan
I think she looks great tonight. Very pretty. I suppose this is one of the perks of being on American Idol: getting decked up. Anyway, I thought she did great! She picked the right song for her. I had no idea she's ill! Anyway, loved her vocals & performance.
11. Matt
I just realized that both guys I like in the competition (Danny & Matt) both picked songs by Carrie Underwood! I'm not sure if this is the best song choice for him, but I definitely love the performance!
Based on tonight's performances; gosh this is a tough one; my guess for the people in the bottom 3 are Lil, Alexis, Adam or Scott.
